Who We Are
HELPING CONNECT EX-OFFENDERS
WITH BUSINESSES IN IOWA
At Second Chance Placement, we recognize that decisions have consequences. The individuals we represent have been there and are now looking for an opportunity to return to a normal life. Each year, approximately 6000 Iowans are released from correctional institutions looking to move on.
Second Chance Placement serves as a conduit between offenders reentering the workforce and employers willing to give them a second chance.
Benefits to Employer for Giving a Second Chance
There are significant incentives available to businesses to offset those costs:
Work Opportunity Tax Credit
The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) offers up to $2400 in Federal Tax Credits for hiring an individual who in the past 12 months has either been convicted of a felony or has been released from incarceration.
Tax Deduction
The State of Iowa offers a tax deduction of 65% of an ex-offenders first 12 months’ salary up to $20,000.
Federal Bonding Program
The Federal Bonding program provides up to $25,000 for people hired to cover costs in the event of dishonesty.
